Nokia X6 (Nokia comes with music) Review

Started annoyed with my old Sony Ericsson G900 which working soooo slow even to find someone’s number on the phonebook or opening message which keep popping up “busy” sign, I thought I’m gonna need new mobile for the exchange of my G900. So, it must be touchscreen and can be use for video calling, better battery power, it’s simple, right? So the nomination goes to Sony Ericsson Experia X1 (SEX1) and Nokia X6. Well, because SEX1 is no longer available, so I bought Nokia X6 instead, which much more expensive than SEX1, and I kind of regret it. First, due to my hasty in getting the thing that I wanted, I half-hearted bought the solid black Nokia X6, actually I’d love to buy the white-pink though, but it’s sold out.

I bought it on Erafone ITC Roxy Mas, they have nice salesperson, they’re pretty good in explaining the products, and for mobile phone I only trust authorized distributor, because I dont have to make any negotiation with annoying sales, in fact I only once bought a mobilephone out of the authorized distributor and it was back in 2006. I usually compare the price on some authorized distributor, such as Erafone, Global Teleshop and Okeshop, then choose the least expensive one. At that time, I found out that Erafone won the tender (halah).

Well here’s my review after a month using Nokia X6
1. Physically it’s a big cellphone, well too big for my small hands and for my tiny sling purse, and it’s the haviest cellphone I ever have
2. Nokia main camera is outstanding, it’s 5MP camera with dual flash (but i dont need a high resolution pic, so i set it on 3MP instead), the picture is very sharp, and the color composition is just that perfect, but there’s a problem, i cant turn off the shutter sound, even if we activate the silent mode
3. There are some hidden shortcut on the screen, such as connectivity, profile options, alarm setting, music, gallery, video & internet, it’s all there (on the screen), it’s pretty the same like Nokia 5800 Express Music shortcut
4. The response is quite fast, much faster compared to my G900, probably it’s 10 times faster.
5. Error happens quite often, such as; when I put it in horizontal position, the menu is still in its vertical forms, so the qwerty virtual keypad didnt work out, when it happens, i have to restart the phone, sometimes i had to restart it twice just like what happened few minutes ago, or when I was online, the LCD suddenly fading and the phone automatically restart.
6. The capacitive touchscreen is pretty annoying, due to my big thumbs I often type wrong words, i’d prefer the resistive touchscreen though
7. The secondary camera is not as good as G900, G900 is waaay much better, it’s such a pity G900 secondary camera cant take a picture, but Nokia X6 can  and under a fine light intensity and exposure, the result pretty nice.
8. The Mark/Unmark facility only provides mark, mark all and unmark all, this could be a quite annoying issue when we wanted to delete some text messages, pictures or videos. Because there’s no multiple-selected-mark option, so you have to mark them one by one, it’s even quicker to use delete icon directly (i guess).
9. Besides the speed dial facility, it also provide shortcut icon for people from your phonebook to make a quick call
10. Nokia X6 doesnt have that many customized menu, even my Samsung Corby can customize font style and size, also security lock for each menu
11. Battery is quite disappointing, it doesnt last long. Everyday I have to charge the battery, at most the battery last for less than two days, that means I can recharge it every two days. Slightly better than my G900, but not that outstanding like I expected.
12. Because it doesn’t provide external memory, I’m a little bit concern about my data, just in case the phone is error or got attack by virus, will my data still save? So far everything’s fine, but 16GB memory is just too much for me. At most, i only use 1 or 2 GB, so having 16GB stick in the phone is just not optimal for user like me
13. The 1 year free download for (approx) 3 million songs, is (again) not very useful for me, it’s free but still cost a fortune for downloading it via handset, but you can also use your Notebook to download it, i think it could be more eficient  there’s only 1 handset and 1 Notebook that can play the music you’ve downloaded from ovi music, to protect the lisence of the artists.
14. The handsfree doesnt look ritzy at all, it’s just like any other cheap handsfree, the color is white and it doesnt match my solid black Nokia X6, and the ear bud thing doesnt suit my ear, using it just make my ears hurt, so i’d rather use my Philips headset instead
15. The GPS is my favorite feature in this handset, because it’s really helpful and easy to use, I love it, I love it… since i often got lost :P

I guess that’s all i can review in this post. What’s written above is just my opinion based on my own experience using it for 1 month, a different review can be found elsewhere. Please feel free to share your own experience.
Cheers ^^
